ATTENDANCE

Regular Attendance Expectation:

• Students are expected to attend all classes within their enrollment/renewal period.

Cover-up Class Policy:

• In the event of a missed class, a cover-up class will be provided as per the Cover-up Class Policy (see below).

Absence Without Notification:

• If a student is absent for more than 2 classes without providing any email notification to the Academy, the batch will be paused.

Rejoining Within 30 Days:

• The student may rejoin the batch for the same course within a maximum of 30 days from the last class attended.
• Failure to rejoin within this timeframe will result in the forfeiture of the batch.

Conditions for Rejoining:

• On rejoining within 30 days, the Academy may assign a different teacher or time slot to the student.
• The student will be required to purchase add-on classes equal to the number of missed classes to continue the batch.

Re-enrollment After 30 Days:

• If more than 30 days have passed since the last class attended, the student must re-enroll in the course again.

Cover-up Class Policy:

Definition:

• A cover-up class is a complimentary class provided out of turn.

Reasons for Offering Cover-Up Classes:

• A cover-up class may be offered by the Academy for the following reasons:
• If a class is canceled due to teacher unavailability or technical issues from the Academy’s (Teacher’s) end.
• If a student requests a reschedule – a maximum of 1 class/month will be provided by the Academy for a course (inclusive of renewals) if the student is absent or requests a reschedule.

Availment and Timing:

• The cover-up class should be availed before the next scheduled class to ensure continuity of the course.
• All cover-up classes will be scheduled within the renewal period of a batch.

Limitation for On-Site Group Classes:

• Cover-up classes cannot be availed by On-Site students in a group class.
• For specific policies regarding On-Site group classes, please consult the center coordinator.

Revision Classes:

Overview:

• A revision class is available for purchase, lasting 45 minutes and priced equivalently to one Advanced class.

Purpose:

• This option is beneficial for students seeking a comprehensive review before undertaking a Cross Level Finisher. By participating in a revision class, students can revisit and reinforce their learning with their teacher, ensuring enhanced preparedness for the Cross Level Finisher assessment.

COURSE PROGRESSION AND REQUIREMENTS

SVP Academy presently provides certificate programs in Carnatic and Hindustani classical vocal styles, along with specialized Voice Gym programs.

Curriculum Structure:

SVP courses are certificate programs that feature meticulously designed and structured curricula to ensure a comprehensive learning experience.

Desideratum Assessment:

• For students opting for courses beyond the beginner’s level, a desideratum assessment is mandatory. This assessment, evaluated by our Curriculum Expert, gauges the student’s singing capability and performance. Based on the assessment results, students receive guidance on the appropriate course level to join.

Advancement to the Next Level:

• Upon successful completion of a course within a level with a passing grade, students are eligible to progress to the next level. This progressive approach ensures a systematic and rewarding learning journey at SVP Academy.

Auditing a Course

An audit course is one in which the student is assessed only for learnability and not for proficiency. 

The Academy recognizes students who wish to just sing and be in the moment and do not desire the extra rigor required to complete assessments and gain a Credit Certificate.

•  The Academy will NOT provide any certificate for audit courses.
• For Audit courses, the student would not be required to submit any assessments.
• A student may opt to “Audit” a course within the first six classes of a course.
• If the student has not submitted any assessments within the first six classes, the Academy will assume the course to be an “Audit” course for the student. 
• The teacher will assess the student in the final class and evaluate the student to promote them to the next course or suggest Add-on classes (or in some cases, repeat the current course).
• If the student has chosen to get Credit for the course but fails to complete an assessment before the due date, the teacher reserves the right to do the assessment in class. 
• A student may not audit a course after the beginners level i.e. starting level 201 in Hindustani or Carnatic Vocals

Milestone Level Exams

• To ensure that we have students who are learning at the Academy also attain the skills and confidence to perform on par with the best students of their genre, our students would be required to take “Level Exams” after completing each Level – Sa, Re/ Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha & Ni

• Taking these exams after completing the milestone course is mandatory for those who desire a certification in their course.
• The examiner would be either the CC or an external examiner for the student
• The exams are for Hindustani and Carnatic classical genres only

• Sa exam is for courses 101-103 for HV and CV
• Re exam is for courses 104-108 for HV – Ri exam 104-109 for CV
• Ga exam is for courses 201-205 for HV and CV
• Ma exam is for courses 205-210 for HV and CV
• Pa exam is for courses 301-308 for HV and CV
• Dha exam is for courses 309-316 for HV and CV
• Ni exam is for courses 401-409 for HV and CV
